On Thursday, Enumclaw got started with a 2-0 lead after the first seven minutes, on goals by senior Quinn Warner, and senior captain Bryce VanHoof. Kentwood got on the scoreboard on their first possession of the second period, on a goal by senior Billy Thompson. The Hornets then scored five in a row – four by VanHoof, and one by freshman Kyle Morgan. Kentwood's Cole Hendricks scored with 43 seconds left in the first half, and Enumclaw held a 7-2 lead at halftime.
The Hornets held Kentwood scoreless in the third quarter, while four players scored a total of five goals – Morgan with two, and VanHoof, Jayson Bates, and Ethan Horan scoring one each – and Enumclaw held a 12-2 lead going into the final period.
Kentwood outscored the visiting Hornets 7-4 in the final period, led by by Hendricks and Andrew Portin with three goals each. For Enumclaw, Morgan scored two, and VanHoof and senior captain Jack Pugh each scored one.
Six Hornets scored in the win; VanHoof led all scorers with seven goals, and Morgan scored a career high five goals. Warner, Bates, Horan, and Pugh scored one apiece. Senior goalkeeper Austin Kaehn had 14 saves.
The Hornets host Stadium on Saturday in a non-league game at 12:30.
