The two-time defending State Champion Curtis Vikings traveled to Enumclaw Tuesday afternoon, and left with a 19-4 victory over the Enumclaw High School Girls Water Polo Team.
The Hornet defense slowed the Viking offense for most of the first period, and trailed by a slim 3-1 margin at the end of one quarter. But the Vikings put on a show during the second quarter, scoring eight goals while holding the Enumclaw team scoreless. Enumclaw scored three in the second half, while Curtis knocked in eight more, for the final 19-4 victory.
Lindsay Bowden was high scorer for the Hornets, with three goals, while Kaitlyn Korsch scored another. Goalkeeper Shaye Hogerhuis had 19 saves and one assist.
The Hornets travel to Auburn on Wednesday for their final league game of the season, against the Auburn Trojans. Game time is 5:30.
On Thursday, Enumclaw hosts Gig Harbor in a 4:30 game at the Enumclaw Aquatic Center, the last game of the regular season. The Hornet JV will take part in a season-ending JV tournament at Rogers High School on Saturday, May 9. The Enumclaw Varsity squad begins State tournament play on Wednesday, May 13 at Rogers High School.
