JV wins two, loses one in tournament

The Enumclaw JV water polo team won two games, and lost one on Saturday at a JV tournament held at Rogers High School in Puyallup. Also competing in the tournament were teams from Rogers, Curtis, Auburn, and Auburn Riverside.

Enumclaw's first game was against Auburn, and the Hornets pulled off a come from behind overtime 9-8 victory over the Trojans. Auburn held the lead through most of the game, until Brooke Flaquinti scored the tying goal on a power play with 20 seconds left in the game. Hornet Kelsey Sonneson scored in the overtime period to secure the Enumclaw win.

Sonneson was high scorer for the Hornets in the opening game, with three goals. Also scoring for Enumclaw was Ali Ballard and Brooke Flaquinti, with two goals each, and Rachel Deonigi and Annie Birklid, with one goal each.

The Hornets lost their second game of the day, a 10-8 defeat to the Rogers Rams. Hornets scoring in the second game were Sonneson, with four goals, Birklid with two, and Brooke Flaquinti and Deonigi with a goal each.

In Enumclaw's final game, the Hornets beat Auburn Riverside 12-4. Sonneson and Brooke Flaquinti scored four goals each, and Breanna Flaquinti, Alina VanRuff, Cassie Cook, and Birklid each added a goal
