Hornets Improve to 4-0 in League Play

With a 15-5 win over Kentwood on Tuesday, the Enumclaw High School Boys Water Polo Team improved their league record to 4-0, 9-3 overall.

Kentwood got on the board first, on a goal by Edward Quintos two minutes into the game. Two minutes later, Hornet freshman Kyle Morgan tied the game on a fast break goal. A minute later, senior captain Bryce VanHoof put the Hornets ahead 2-1. VanHoof scored again 30 seconds later, and Kentwood scored on their next possession for a 3-2 Hornet lead after the first quarter of play.

Four Hornets scored in the second period, as Enumclaw outscored Kentwood 4-1 in the quarter, for a 7-3 Enumclaw advantage at halftime. Led by VanHoof's four goals in the third period, the Hornets outscored Kentwood 7-2, for a 14-5 lead going into the final quarter. In the final quarter the Hornets held Kentwood scoreless while adding one more VanHoof goal.

Six Hornets scored in the win, led by VanHoof, with eight goals. Senior Jack Pugh and freshman Nathan March scored two each, and Quinn Warner, Kyle Morgan, and Ethan Horan added one goal apiece. Senior goalkeeper Austin Kaehn had 16 saves. The Hornet defense had 25 steals, again led by VanHoof, with eight. Pugh and Brett Butler each had four steals, and Horan and Kaehn had three each.

Enumclaw hosts Auburn Mountainview on Thursday at 7:30; the Lions are also undefeated in league play.
