Hornets beat Sumner, improve record to 8-2

The Enumclaw High School Girls Water Polo Team beat the Sumner Spartans 17-9 in a league game held Thursday afternoon at the Sumner pool. The Hornets used the opportunity to get in some extra work for their younger players, with all 19 players available seeing some action.

Scoring for the Hornets in Thursday's win were Lindsay Bowden and Brooke Flaquinti with three goals each, Kaitlyn Korsch, Kelsey Sonneson, Erin Stucker, Tianna Hogan, and Kelsey Brazier with two goals apiece, and Alina Van Ruff with one score. Starting goalkeeper Shaye Hogerhuis earned some rest while backup Rose Johnson played most of the second half in the goal.

Enumclaw gathered 21 steals for the game, led by Bowden, with eight.

The Hornets now prepare to host the non-league rival Puyallup Vikings on Friday, at the Enumclaw Aquatic Center. Game time is 4:30.
