Enumclaw beats Rogers 11-7

The Enumclaw High School Girls Water Polo Team hosted a non-league game on Wednesday afternoon against the Rogers Rams, and came away with an 11-7 victory.

The Hornets scored on their first possession, on a goal from center Kaitlyn Korsch. Rogers tied the game 1-1 less than a minute later, but the Hornets scored again after a Rogers exclusion, to end the first period with a 2-1 lead.

The second quarter was all Enumclaw, with the Hornets scoring six goals during the period, while holding the Rams scoreless until the final 19 seconds of the half. At halftime, Enumclaw held an 8-2 advantage.

Rogers made a run during the third period, scoring five goals, but Enumclaw held the Rams scoreless for the fourth quarter, to hang on to the 11-7 win.

High scorer for Enumclaw was Breanna Flaquinti, with four goals. Lindsay Bowden knocked in three, while Erin Stucker scored two, and Kaitlyn Korsch and Brooke Flaquinti each scored a goal. Shaye Hogerhuis had another outstanding game in goal, with 16 saves, including two stops on penalty shots.

The Hornets are in second place in the East Division of the South Sound Girls Water Polo League with a 5-2 league record; the Hornets overall record is now 10-2. Enumclaw hosts Bonney Lake for their final home league game of the season on Friday at 4:30.
