Enumclaw Beats Puyallup in Overtime

The Enumclaw High School Boys Water Polo Team played their second overtime game in two days on Friday, beating the Puyallup Vikings 7-6.

The Vikings took the lead early, holding a 3-1 lead at the end of the first period, and a 5-3 advantage at halftime. At the end of three, Puyallup still held a solid 6-4 lead over the home team, but the Hornet defense tightened, and goals by Bennon VanHoof and Logan Ross tied the game at 6-6 at the end of regulation play.

Both teams were scoreless in the first overtime; Hornet goalkeeper Josh Musick blocked a penalty shot to deny the Vikings the lead 30 seconds in to the second overtime, and sophomore Gabe Sales put the game away, scoring on a lob shot from the right side with 1:22 left to play.

Scoring for Enumclaw in the win were Logan Ross with three goals, Bennon VanHoof with two, and Will Cooper and Sales with one goal each.

The game was the last home game for Hornet seniors Shane Jackson and Alex Stopsack.

The Hornets have one more game on their schedule – an informal game against the Kentridge Chargers at the Covington Pool on Wednesday, November 4, at 8:00 p.m.
