Enumclaw Beats Kentridge 9-4, Improves League Record to 1-1

The Enumclaw High School Boys Water Polo Team beat Kentridge 9-4 in a home game on Thursday, September 16. The win improves the Hornets league record to 1-1.

The Hornets scored on their first possession, on a goal by senior captain Garrett Hall, and took a 2-0 lead on sophomore Bennon VanHoof's goal midway through the opening period. Kentridge tied the game at 2-2 after scoring twice within a minute of the Hornet's second goal. Hall added another goal for Enumclaw with 42 seconds left in the quarter, for a 3-2 advantage.

The Hornets defense tightened in the second and third periods, holding Kentridge scoreless until four minutes into the fourth quarter. Enumclaw took a 7-2 lead into the final period, with three goals by VanHoof, and one by Hall, in the second and third quarters.

Hall and VanHoof each scored goals in the final period, and Kentridge managed two more goals in the final three minutes, for the 9-4 final score.

For the Hornets, VanHoof scored five, and Hall added four goals. Senior goalkeeper Josh Musick had 12 saves in the win.

The Hornets will host Lakes in a non-league game on Saturday, September 18, at the Enumclaw Aquatic Center. Game time is 12:30. The Hornets next league game is at the Auburn pool on Tuesday, September 21, against Auburn Mountainview High School, at 7:30.
