The Enumclaw High School Boys Water Polo finished a tough week – with four straight days of play – with two wins and two losses.

The Hornets lost their first and last games of the week, on Tuesday against Auburn Riverside, and Friday against Gig Harbor, but won their two home games.

On Wednesday Enumclaw beat Emerald Ridge 15-4 in a non-league game, and on Thursday the Hornets fought back from a three point deficit in the final quarter to beat the Auburn Trojans 9-8.

Enumclaw got a fast start against Emerald Ridge, leading 3-1 after one quarter, and 10-2 at halftime. The Hornets held the Jags scoreless in the third period, and both teams scored two goals in the fourth quarter. Six Hornets scored – Nathan March scored six goals, Kyle Morgan scored three. Jayson Bates and Adam Percival scored two each, and Ben Hauswirth and Evan O'Neill added one apiece. Brett Butler grabbed 12 saves in goal.

On Thursday the Auburn Trojans scored four goals before Nathan March put the Hornets on the board with 2:44 left in the first half. Auburn held a 4-2 advantage at halftime. Each team scored three in the third quarter, and Auburn held a 7-5 lead entering the final period.

Auburn's John McHugh scored two minutes into the quarter, and the Trojans led 8-5. Hornet Kyle Morgan scored on a fast break a minute later, and March scored again with 2:16 left to narrow the lead to one goal. Enumclaw's defense tightened, and Morgan scored again with 36 seconds left, to tie the game. The Hornet defense forced a Trojan turnover on Auburn's next possession, and March knocked in the final goal with six seconds left to seal the Enumclaw win.

March led the Hornet scorers with four goals. Evan O'Neill scored three, and March scored two. Junior goalkeeper Brett Butler grabbed 12 saves in the win.

For Auburn Ben Schwab and John Villandry scored three each, and John McHugh scored two.

The Hornets travel to Lindbergh High School next Tuesday for a 9:30 game against Kentridge. On Friday Enumclaw plays Emerald Ridge at 7:15 at Rogers High School, and on Saturday the Hornets host South Kitsap at 2:30.
