Hornets Close Second Week with Maroon-White Scrimmage

The Enumclaw High School Girls Water Polo Team closed their second week of practice with a Maroon-White scrimmage at the Enumclaw Pool on Friday, March 11.

The Hornets White team, coached by Ann Bettencourt and Garrett Hall, beat Enumclaw's Maroon team, coached by head coach Bob Averill, 14-7.

Ali Ballard led all scorers, scoring seven goals for the victorious white team. Hannah Kinninburgh and Annie Birklid scored three each for the white team, and Katie Larrea added one. Erin Stucker led the scoring for the maroon team, with four goals. Allie Larrea, Kelsey Sonneson, and Alina VanRuff each scored a goal for the maroon squad.

On Saturday, March 12, the Hornets travel to Lakes High School, in Lakewood, WA, to open the season with the SPSL Girls Water Polo Jamboree. The Enumclaw girls will play three abbreviated games – at 11:00 against Mt. Tahoma, at 1:40 against Tacoma's Wilson High School, and at 3:40 against Auburn Riverside.

Monday the Hornets face Curtis High School at the Lakes Pool, and on Tuesday Enumclaw begins league play against Auburn Mountainview, in a 4:30 home contest.
