Hornets Improve League Record to 8-2

The Enumclaw High School Boys Water Polo Team improved their league record to 8-2 with a win over the Stadium Tigers, 15-10. The Hornets are currently tied for first place in the East Division with Auburn and Wilson.

The Hornets rattled off five goals in the first four minutes of play, before finishing the opening quarter with a 6-2 advantage over the home team. Both teams scored three goals in the second quarter, giving the visiting Hornets a 9-5 lead at halftime. Enumclaw outscored the Tigers in the third period, 3-2, and the two teams played even in the final quarter, to the 15-10 final score.

Bennon VanHoof was high scorer for the Hornets, with eight goals. Thomas Petersen scored two, and Garrett Hall, Travis Culp, Zach Petersen, Braden Dedrick, and Gabe Sales each scored one. Goalkeeper Josh Music had 16 saves in the Hornet win.

The Hornets host league co-leader Auburn on Thursday at the Enumclaw Aquatic Center, in a game that could determine the East Division champion. Enumclaw will compete in this year's state playoff at Rogers High School, November 4-6.
