Gig Harbor Beats Enumclaw 11-4

The Gig Harbor Water Polo Team came to Enumclaw on Saturday afternoon, and beat the Enumclaw Hornets 11-4 in a non-league contest.

The game started as a defensive battle, with only one goal scored in the first quarter, by Gig Harbor's Lauren Biggs. Hornet junior Erin Stucker tied the game at one, early in the second period, but Lora Donaldson, Biggs, and Shae Purdue combined for four additional goals in the second quarter.

Stucker and Lindsay Bowden scored three goals in the second half, but the Gig Harbor offense and pressure defense proved to be too much for the tired Enumclaw squad, playing their fourth game of the week.

The Hornets travel to Sumner on Monday for a league game against Sumner, and host Auburn Mountainview on Friday in a league game that could determine State tournament seeding for the two teams.

The Hornets are currently in second place in their division, with a 5-1 league record; the Lions are in third place with a 3-3 league mark. The first two teams in each division earn an automatic trip to State; third place teams play a one-day playoff to determine the final two teams.
