The Enumclaw Hornets lost to second ranked Bellevue on Saturday, October 16 at the Enumclaw Aquatic Center.
The Hornets scored on their first possession, on a goal by Garrett Hall, 26 seconds into the game. The Wolverines charged back, scoring four in the opening quarter, for a 4-1 lead at the end of the period. Enumclaw added three quick goals in the first three minutes of the second quarter, two by Hall, and one by Bennon VanHoof. But Bellevue added four of their own in the next three minutes, and three in the last minute of the half, to take a 12-5 advantage at halftime.
The two teams played close in the third period – Bellevue scored four, Enumclaw added three – and the Hornets outscored the visitors 2-0 in the final quarter for the final 16-10 score.
Hornets Garret Hall scored five goals in the loss, Bennon VanHoof scored four, and Travis Culp scored one.
Bellevue is currently ranked second in the Washington State High School Water Polo rankings; the Hornets are ranked seventh. Enumclaw travels to Stadium for a league game on Tuesday, and hosts Auburn on Thursday, in a game that could determine the league champion. The Hornets host Puyallup next Saturday at 12:30.
