The Auburn Trojans beat Enumclaw's Boys Water Polo Team on Thursday, October 21, in a game that featured tough defense by both teams. Both teams were held scoreless for the first five minutes of the game. Auburn's Blake Morgan put Auburn on the board with 1:20 left in the first quarter, putting Auburn ahead 1-0 at the end of the period.
Morgan scored again on Auburn's first possession of the second quarter, to put the Trojans up 2-0, but Enumclaw's Logan Ross put Enumclaw on the board with three minutes left in the first half; Enumclaw trailed 2-1 at halftime.
Hornet Bennon VanHoof tied the game with a goal two minutes into the third period, and Enumclaw took the lead on a Garrett Hall goal with 2:13 left in the third period. Auburn scored twice more in the third period, to put the Trojans ahead 4-3. Neither team was able to score in the fourth period.
Logan Ross, Garrett Hall, and Bennon VanHoof each scored one goal in the Hornet loss. The Hornet defense gathered 19 steals, led by Hall's seven, and four by goalkeeper Josh Musick. Musick also tallied 16 saves.
The Hornets host Puyallup on Saturday at 12:30, and finish league play at Auburn on Tuesday, against Auburn Riverside.
