Enumclaw Beats Puyallup 12-5
The Enumclaw High School Boys Water Polo Team beat the Puyallup Vikings, 12-5, in a non-league contest held Saturday afternoon at the Enumclaw Aquatic Center.
Senior Hornet Cory Larsen was the first to score, on a fast break in the first minute of play. Senior Garrett Hall put the Hornets ahead 2-0 midway through the opening quarter, and Josh Morman put the Vikings on the board a little over a minute later. Enumclaw's Bennon VanHoof added to the Hornet lead in the last minute of the quarter, giving Enumclaw the 3-1 edge at the end of the first period.
Enumclaw added to their lead in the second quarter, on goals by Mason Culp, Josh Musick, and Gabe Sales. to give the Hornets a 6-1 lead at halftime.
The Vikings scratched back within two goals, scoring three early in the third period, but the Hornets added one goal in the third, and five in the final period, to finish with the 12-5 win.
Scoring for Enumclaw were: Bennon VanHoof, with four goals, Garrett Hall, Mason Culp, and Josh Musick, with two goals each, and Cory Larsen and Gabe Sales with one goal apiece.
The Hornets close out the regular season next week, with a road game against Auburn Riverside on Tuesday, and a home game on Friday against Peninsula.
The Hornets have an 8-3 league record, and a 10-6 overall record, and will finish the season at the state tournament at Rogers High School, November 4-6.
