The Enumclaw High School Girls Water Polo Team traveled to Covington on Friday to open league play against Kentridge, and returned with a 14-0 win.
The Hornets got off to a fast start, with Katie Larrea scoring two fast break goals in the first two minutes of play. Senior Annie Birklid scored from center two minutes later, and Enumclaw held a 3-0 advantage after one quarter.
Katie Larrea scored again during the second period, giving Enumclaw a 4-0 lead at halftime.
The Enumclaw offense revved up in the third period, with Hannah Kinniburgh scoring twice in the first minute of play, and Katie Larrea adding three more and Allie Larrea scoring one, to give the Hornets a 10-0 lead going into the final period.
Katie Larrea scored two, and Kinniburgh and Bailey Sexton each added one in the final frame for the 14-0 final score. Goalkeeper Megan Lesmeister registered 12 saves in the shutout.
Katie Larrea was high scorer, with eight goals. Hannah Kinniburgh scored three, and Annie Birklid, Allie Larrea, and Bailey Sexton each scored one.
The Hornets host Auburn on Tuesday, March 20, in a 4:30 league game at the Enumclaw Aquatic Center.
