The Enumclaw High School Girls Water Polo Team finished the third day of play at the State tournament with a win over the Auburn Mountainview Lions. With the win, the Hornets claimed a seventh place finish at the State tournament.
Enumclaw began the tournament on Wednesday with a loss to the eventual State Champion Gig Harbor Tides, 16-1. The Hornets continued play on Friday, with a 7-3 loss to third place finisher Auburn Riverside, and closed out the tournament on Saturday with an 11-8 win over Auburn Mountainview.
Kelsey Sonneson scored the lone goal in Wednesday's loss; Lindsay Bowden, Erin Stucker, and Annie Birklid each scored a goal in Friday's game. In Saturday's win over Mountainview, Bowden and Stucker each score five goals, and Ali Ballard added one.
Gig Harbor was crowned State Champion with a win over defending State Champion Curtis in Saturday's championship game. East Division Champion Auburn Riverside finished third, Stadium finished in fourth place, Wilson finished fifth and Rogers High School finished in sixth place.
The Hornets finished in seventh place, and Auburn Mountainview finished eighth.
Enumclaw seniors Lindsay Bowden and Shaye Hogerhuis were named to the All State Honorable Mention Team.
The Hornets finished the 2010 season with a 13-9-1 record, seventh place at State, and their fifth consecutive trip to the State Tournament.
