<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The Enumclaw High School Girls Water Polo Team lost a hard-fought game to Auburn Mountainview, 13-11 in overtime, on Thursday, April 5 at the Enumclaw Aquatic Center.

The game was close throughout, tied 2-2 after one period, with a 6-5 Lion lead at halftime. The Hornets outscored the visitors in the third quarter to take a 7-6 lead into the fourth quarter.

The small Hornet squad became even smaller, as three starters fouled out late in the game, leaving the Hornets one woman short and trailing 9-8 with 1:25 left in the game. Short-handed, the Hornets scored with 16 seconds left in regulation for a 9-9 tie, and the Lions reclaimed the lead with four seconds remaining. After a Hornet time-out, Enumclaw's Grace Rich tied the game again at 10-10 with one second left, to force the game into overtime.

Overtime proved to be too much for the Hornets, with Auburn Mountainview outscoring Enumclaw 3-1 in overtime, to claim the win.

Senior Grace Rich scored five for Enumclaw; Lindsay Harms scored three, Grace Munnell added two, and Jessica Lee scored one. The Hornets' Monster Goalkeeper Morgan Hall grabbed 21 saves.

For Auburn Mountainview, Amelia Portin scored eight, Autumn Hildebrand scored three, and Emily Dakan and Mairead Quigley each ascored one.

The win gives Auburn Mountainview the lead for the East Division title. Enumclaw is 3-2 in league play, 4-4 overall.Bob Averillhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11942542988706716262noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2821380330434719126.post-42655562187271563722018-02-11T05:08:00.000-08:002018-02-11T05:08:40.396-08:00Emerald Ridge Jamboree ScheduleThe Enumclaw High School Girls Water Polo Team opens their season this year on March 10th at the Emerald Ridge Jamboree, at Rogers High School, in Puyallup, WA.
Eight-year-old Virginia O’Hanlon had begun to doubt there was <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">a Santa Claus. Her father, Dr. Philip O’Hanlon, suggested she write to the New York <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Sun, assuring her, “If you see it in The Sun, it's so."
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Some of my little friends say there is no Santa Claus.
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Papa says, ''If you see it in The Sun it's so.'' Please tell me the truth: Is there a Santa <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Claus?
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Virginia O'Hanlon.
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">115 West Ninety-Fifth Street.
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Virginia, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">skeptical age. They do not believe except they see. They think that nothing can be which <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Virginia, whether they be men's or <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">children's, are little. In this great universe of ours man is a mere insect, an ant, in his <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">intellect, as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge.
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give your life its highest beauty and <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus. It would be as <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">dreary as if there were no Virginias.
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The eternal life with <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">which childhood fills the world would be extinguished.
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Not believe in Santa Claus! You might as well not believe in fairies! You might get your <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">papa to hire men to watch in all the chimneys on Christmas Eve to catch Santa Claus, but <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">even if they did not see Santa Claus coming down, what would that prove? Nobody sees <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Santa Claus, but that is no sign that there is no Santa Claus. The most real things in the <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see fairies dancing on <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">the lawn? Of course not, but that's no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world.
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">You may tear apart the baby's rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">of all the strongest men that ever lived, could tear apart. Only faith, fancy, poetry, love, <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">romance, can push aside that curtain and view and picture the supernatural beauty and <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">glory beyond. Is it all real? Ah, Virginia, in all this world there is nothing else real and <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">abiding.
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">No Santa Claus! Thank God! he lives, and he lives forever. A thousand years from now, <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Virginia, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, he will continue to make glad the <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">heart of childhood.Bob Averillhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11942542988706716262noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2821380330434719126.post-39016078603141125922017-09-18T04:47:00.000-07:002017-09-18T04:47:08.552-07:00Hornets 2-0 in League Play After Week 1

With two league wins this week - a 5-4 win over Auburn on Tuesday, and a 9-4 win over Auburn Mountainview on Thursday - the Enumclaw High School Girls Water Polo Team clinched their third consecutive East Division Title.

Tuesday's game vs, Auburn was a defensive nailbiter, with both teams scoreless in the first period, and trading goals in the second and third, to enter the final period with a 2-2 tie.

Auburn took the lead with 2:45 left, on a Maddy Arnone goal, and Grace Rich scored for the Hornets for a 3-3 tie with 1:18 remaining. Emilie Weyer's goal gave the Hornets the lead with 43 seconds remaining, but Elizabeth Zaytseva tied it up again with 18 seconds left. After the Hornets' final timeout, Weyer scored again with 11 seconds left, for a 5-4 Hornet advantage, and Enumclaw stopped the Trojans on their last possession to seal the victory.

Thursday's game vs. Auburn Mountainview started much the same, with the teams trading goals through the first period, and a 3-3 tie after seven minutes of play. But the Hornets caught fire in the second quarter, scoring four and holding the Lions scoreless, for a 7-3 halftime lead.

Both teams went scoreless in the third, and Enumclaw outscored Auburn Mountainview 2-1 in the final quarter for the 9-4 final score.

The Hornets are now 8-1 in league play, and 13-4 overall.
Enumclaw travels to Auburn for a four-game tournament on Friday and Saturday,
and travel to Renton’s Lindbergh High School on Tuesday for their final
